Memberships overview

Recurring plans that grant service credits or spendable balance, billed automatically — how plans, versions, and billing work.

Memberships turn regulars into subscribers: a recurring plan that charges automatically and grants service credits (for example, two facials a month) or account balance (a spendable amount each cycle), often with member pricing on top. Find them under Point of Sale → Memberships (/memberships).

The memberships home

The page opens with your numbers — active members, monthly recurring revenue, past-due members at risk, and upcoming renewals — then two tabs:

  • Members — every membership with client, plan, status, next charge, price, and credits left. Filter by Active / Past due / Unpaid / Paused, search, and sort by next charge, name, or age. A banner surfaces members who need attention, with a one-click jump to the past-due list.
  • Plans — your plan cards with price, interval, what members get, and how each is sold. The last tile is Create plan.

Build a plan

New plan opens the plan builder. Work top to bottom:

  1. Identity and type

Name, description, and the plan type: Service credits (grant specific services each cycle) or Account balance (charge a price, credit a spendable balance).

  2. Billing

Price and interval — weekly, monthly, or a custom cadence (minimum 7 days). Optional intro pricing discounts the first cycles.

  3. What members get

For credit plans: service groups like "Any facial" with a quantity per cycle and an allocated price — what a credit covers at checkout; if the booked service costs more, the member pays the difference. Choose credit expiry and whether unused credits roll over (with a cap).

  4. Extras

Optional member discounts on services and products, family sharing (others redeem from the same credit pool), custom failed-payment retries, and an agreement members must e-sign before activation.

  5. Where it's sold

Storefront + POS, Direct link only, or In-salon only.

Plan versions

Editing a plan never changes existing members. Saving an edit creates a new version; current members keep the exact terms they signed up for until you move them individually (Switch to current version on the member's page). The builder's version history shows every version and how many members are on each.

Billing and failed payments

Billing runs automatically on each member's cycle against their card on file, on the salon's connected Stripe account. When a charge fails, the plan's retry schedule kicks in (default: days 1, 3, 5, 7). Cards that need 3-D Secure aren't blind-retried — the member gets a fix-card link instead. When retries are exhausted, the plan decides: mark unpaid, auto-pause, or auto-cancel, with optional grace days before credits freeze.
