Redeem gift cards and packages
Apply prepaid balances at the POS register or straight from an appointment, including the exact-service rule for package sessions.

Clients spend their prepaid balances in two places: the POS register for any sale, and the appointment checkout dialog for settling a booking without opening the register.
At the register
Attach the customer to the ticket first — without a client, the register can't list their saved cards and packages (you can still redeem any gift card by typing its code). When the client has balance, a banner appears: "{Name} has prepaid balance" with their gift-card total and package sessions.
The prepaid strip in the cart then offers:
- Packages — each cart line a session can cover gets a Cover with package button. Applied lines read "Covered by {package} — line is $0", with Undo. Lines that already carry a manual discount can't be covered.
- Gift cards — each card or account credit shows its balance with an editable amount field and a Use max button. Amounts clamp automatically to the card balance or what's left to pay.
- Redeem by code — type or scan a code (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and hit Look up to pull in a card that isn't on the client's profile.
Applied amounts appear in the totals as a negative "Gift card / credit" line, and the headline switches to Balance due. When prepaid covers everything, the pay buttons are replaced by "Fully covered — no further payment needed" and a single Complete sale button that records a $0 transaction.
At appointment checkout
From a booking's detail panel, click Checkout to open "Checkout with gift card or package". It shows the client's saved gift cards on the left and package sessions on the right, plus a code field at the top — "Have a gift card? Enter the code" — for cards not on file.
- Gift cards work like the register: editable amounts, Use max, automatic clamping.
- Package sessions follow the exact-service rule: a session can only redeem against the very service it was bought for. Matching services get a green "Matches booking" badge; anything else is dimmed with "Not for this service".
The summary shows what's applied and the Remaining amount. The button reads "Redeem & take {amount}" when a balance is left — collect that part by card or cash — or "Redeem & complete" when fully covered. The booking's detail panel afterwards itemizes what was applied.
The exact-service rule
A "5× blowout" package can't pay for a haircut — sessions redeem only against the exact booked service, enforced on the server as well as in the UI. If the booked service costs more than the session's worth, the difference is collected normally. This keeps package economics honest: what you discounted is what gets redeemed.
